Aaron Thornton's earliest musical encounters were singing in various choirs, kindergarten through junior high school. At the age of sixteen, his uncle, Bill Burks, gave his father a dulcimer which he had handcrafted. Aaron sneaked the dulcimer to his room and about ten minutes later he was playing “Wild Wood Flower.” The rest is history. His uncle introduced Aaron to the Bayou Dulcimer Club. At the club he met Paul Andry. Paul along with the club members taught Aaron how to play the dulcimer correctly. Aaron also was mentored by David Schnaufer and Steven Seifert. All of the Bayou Dulcimer Club members, Bill, Paul, David, and Steven contributed to Aaron's proficiency playing the dulcimer. |
